Company History
Hamma Down Enterprises, Inc (HDE) started as a hobby for its owner, Shawn Hawkins, while he was serving on active duty in the United States Army. Born and raised in Bailey’s Crossroads, VA Shawn developed his passion for truck driving and operating heavy equipment while riding with and listening to the tales of his grandfathers, father, uncles, and neighbors who were heavily involved in the construction industry as foremen, truck drivers, heavy equipment operators, and tradesmen. He experienced much of the growth and development in the Washington Metropolitan, first hand, from the seats of their vehicles and equipment. While in the military, Shawn did small demolition and lot clean-up jobs with his pick-up truck, dump trailer, and a small farm tractor. He did pretty well with this set up and continued operating the business as a hobby for several years from duty station to duty station. In 2009, while at his last duty station, Shawn incorporated HDE.
